Join us for an empowering film and robust discussion on the importance of voting
“Dying to Vote” is a film about those who died for the right to vote and is centered on the Vernon Dahmer story, a civil rights activist who was murdered in 1968 because he was registering African Americans to vote in Mississippi. The film tells the history of voter intimidation in America leading up to the January 6th Insurrection. It features Vernon Dahmer’s son, Dennis Dahmer, who was there when the Ku Klux Klan attacked their home, and Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Chairman of the January 6th Committee.
We will be screening this film at the Civic Center and providing a post-film interactive activity and discussion. Your participation is welcomed and encouraged.
Join us on Saturday, October 19th and witness this powerful, impactful story.
